Idea to Startup Festival: Bridging Innovation and Cancer Genomics Research
The “Idea to Startup” Festival is held alongside the 3rd International Cancer Genomics Congress, hosted by Tarbiat Modares University and organized by the Congress Commercialization Committee.
This specialized event aims to bridge cutting-edge research with the health market, providing an opportunity for innovators and researchers to present and develop their ideas and projects in direct collaboration with universities, knowledge-based companies, and investors.
The festival focuses on innovative technologies related to cancer prevention, screening, and early diagnosis; artificial intelligence and data mining in digital oncology and health; nanotechnology and advanced drug delivery systems; patient care and rehabilitation solutions; comprehensive platforms for omics data analysis and biological modeling in cancer research; emerging cancer biomarkers; biobanks and cell- and gene-based cancer products; and smart health services supporting oncology innovation.
Overall, this festival serves as a professional platform to promote innovation, strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, and accelerate the commercialization of advanced technologies in cancer prevention and treatment.
Participation Guidelines and Three-Stage Evaluation Process
Participation in the festival is team-based, with each team consisting of three to five members, and at least one Ph.D. student or graduate at this level is required. The proposed ideas must be innovative, technology-oriented, and have clear commercialization potential, while the educational or professional background of team members should be relevant to the field.
The event is structured in three stages:
- In the first stage, teams submit a summary of their idea, which will be evaluated in terms of innovation, economic value, technical feasibility, and business model.
- In the second stage, selected teams will receive free coaching to refine and develop their ideas into a more complete feasibility study (FS) for the second round of evaluation.
- Finally, in the third stage, the top teams will present their final projects during the Congress before a panel of investors, and the winners will be announced and awarded in the closing ceremony.

Three prizes of 50 million Tomans will be awarded to each top three teams of the Idea to Startup Festival. Additionally, the top ten teams will receive pre-acceleration support from the country’s leading accelerators, access to physical workspace, commercialization assistance, educational and consulting services, and infrastructure development support.

The Second Cancergenomics Congress is a special event dedicated for impoving the field of cancer prevention and treatment. This congress provides a platform for large companies and startups active in the cancer domain to showcase their innovations and achievements.
In addition to valuable networking opportunities and discussions, the congress includes the “Idea to Startup Festival and Exhibition,” organized by the Amper Innovation Factory.
